Hi! Welcome to the February 2012 Product Spotlight Blog Hop. In this hop, each participant chose one alphabet stamp to spotlight.Luisa has chosen the Pennant stamp set. Didn't she do a marvelous job?

I chose the Polka Dot stamp set. It is a D-sized (D1469) set and retails for $17.95 plus shipping and tax. There are 51 stamps that include all uppercase letters, numbers 0-9, and assorted punctuation. I used this stamp set to stamp the title "MY HERO" on the tag. I love that the spots on the stamps don't take the ink and show up whatever color is underneath.

I also made this quick and easy birthday card using the word Happy in the polka dot stamped in Moonstruck ink and the stamp "birthday" which is from the It's Your Day Retired Stamp of the month from 2009 in Cranberry ink. The image was cut from a spellbinders die and layered on a slightly larger die cut. A layer of the striped side of the B&T from Superhero paper pack was placed along the center of the card front. The focal image was attached to the card itself using 3-D foam tape along the outer edges of the image and glued down the center. This gives the image an open book appearance.

Superhero Layout

Here is the layout I made using Superhero paper and Bamboo, Black, and Cranberry Cardstock. The layouts are from Jeanette Lynton's Reflections How-to Scrapbooking Book. They are complementary layouts, so I know using the same papers will ensure they will look well together.

A few years ago, my BFF, Cindy and I went on a road trip to Chicago. One the way home, we had to stop in the small town of Metropolis, IL. I couldn't resist letting my inner child loose in this town that is set in the Marvel Superman Comic Books. It was super HOT and those photo bodies were made of metal and were sizzling hot!

I used Polka Dot Alphabet to make the My Hero title. I love that alphabet.

I made this layout for my Wednesday Scrapbooking class. I used the new paperpack from CTMH called Pemberly. The feature colors are Outdoor Denim and Bamboo, I added Honey as an accent color. All embellishments were cut from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge (man, I believe it really is my "go to" cartridge). The "floor plan" for this layout is from the Magic How-to book by Jeanette Lynton. There is even a hidden journaling tag on the right page.

Look What I Made today!!

Today, for the first time in I can't remember how long, I made something exclusively for myself! It wasn't made for a swap, or a class, or my elementary students, just for me.

You can't see it in this photo because I have the wreath on a black background, but all of the images are layered onto a black outline wreath. It does create one connected circle.

MelodyLane815 showed how to make this wreath on YouTube. It is from The Groovy Times Cricut cartridge and Cricut Craft Room. She also made a cut file that can be downloaded for free HERE

Welcome to the Spring/Summer 2012 CTMH New Product Blog Hop. You may have hopped here from Georgia' blog. If you keep hopping, you will eventually get back to where you began.

I had a really difficult time deciding which new product to showcase; I love them all. I finally decided that I wanted to show off the new A Card stamps. They are "A" sized stamps that have one feature stamp and can be used to make quick and easy cards. After all, CTMH's motto is "Faster, Simpler, Easier" so what makes more sense, right?

I also wanted to showcase one of the new paper packs. It is called Superhero. I can see many people completely ignoring this paperpack, while others are going to be over the moon in love with it.

I, myself, was prone to ignore it completely. Well, when I got my sample papers, I could not believe how beautiful they are. I used the striped side of the paper and layered it over a piece of Sky. I cut a banner out of sky over white. I stamped the image and sentiment on Moonstruck Cardstock using Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I layered the focal image on White Daisy Cardstock and attached it using 3-D Foam tape. I added 3 White brads to the card.

For my next card, I again stamped the image on Moonstruck Cardstock using Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. Then I wiped the edges of White Daisy cardstock on the Versamark Ink pad covered the edges all around with Gold embossing Powder. It makes it appear as if it is Gold Paper, at least along the edges.

I layered this focal image on a 4X4 piece of paper from the Pemberly Paper Pack and put it on a 4X8 piece of Moonstruck Cardstock, creating a 4X4 card.

Wednesday's Class Layout

This week's class layout is from Cherish, the how-to book by Jeanette Lynton. The colors used in this layout are: New England Ivy, Sweet Leaf,& Cocoa. Accents are cut-outs from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge. Stamped sentiments are from the stamp set included in the Sonoma Workshop on the Go. That bright luster you see is created by Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel.

Using my Stash 2 Page Layout

January's product spotlight, "use your scraps" got me thinking about using up all the other stuff I have in my "stash." I put this layout together using the bulk papers from the CTMH Lucky Level 2 paperpack. It was in the CTMH Idea Book Spring/Summer 2011, so it is now retired.

I made this 2 page layout using a design in Jeanette Lynton's How-to Book, Imagine 9030. The layout is "Monologue" on pp 53-53.

Accents used were Outdoor Denim buttons from the mini medley Z1277 which is currently on the "While Supplies Last" clearance section at My Online store . There is Natural Hemp Z280 in each button. They are attached using Memory Book Glue Dots (Mini) Z341.

The New York title and the Statue of Liberty were cut from the Destinations Cricut cartridge. My paper moved while it was cutting the tag, so I stopped it and just kept the word box. I layered it over the Goldrush cardstock. The Statue of Liberty was attached using 3-D Foam Tape Z1151.

I put Liquid Glass Z679 inside the box, between the letters. I also put Liquid Glass dots on top of the printed dots on the green/blue papers.

January CTMH Product Spotlight- Use Your Scraps

This month's blog hop is showcasing projects made with scraps. The goal is to use up all the scraps we have hanging around, to make room for the new products coming out in the Spring/Summer Idea Book on February 1st.

I'm participating in a birthday card swap. I'm making one for females and one generic. Since the swap is not for new products, I decided to go through my scraps to see if I could make my cards.

Here is my card for females. I made it using leftover pieces of Sophia papers. The focal image was stamped on White Daisy cardstock using Versamark Ink and black embosssing powder. Then I painted it using the Blush and Hollyhock ink and my waterbrush. I cut it out using my microtip scissors. Love how those tiny scissors fit my fat fingers and still let me cut those intricate cuts!

The pear accent was cut using the Cricut Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Bundle. I wanted to emboss using white embossing powder, but I found it was a little too thick, so I used a trick I learned from some smart person whose name I cannot remember. I ground the embossing powder in a coffee grinder I got just for that purpose. Well, to my thrill, it worked! I was able to get a much nicer detailed image.

I cut the right edge off 1/2" so the inside would show. Then I stamped the flower border stamp in Blush ink. I added a drop of Glitz Glitter Gel in the center of each flower. I also stamped the butterfly in 2nd Generation Blush Ink.

My second card was also done using scraps. I used paper left over from the Zipeedee
paperpack. My focal image was stamped in Honey ink, then colored in with watercolor pencils blended with the waterbrush. The center was stamped in Cocoa Ink. Again, I used my microtip scissors to make those petals come alive. The stem was stamped in Olive and cut out and layered between the ribbon folds and across the bottom of the card.

The ribbon was a section of off white satin ribbon I had that I folded and glued down to the card. This was a technique I learned from Tresa Black, another CTMH consultant.
The sentiment was cut from the Cricut Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Bundle cartridge on White Daisy cardstock. I brayered on Indian Corn Blue ink to match the small images on the paper. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink and Cocoa Embossing powder.

All the layers were attached to a Kraft colored card base.

Ugh Winter Break is over

So winter break is over and I have to go back to school today. I'm so spoiled from being home for 2 weeks. It was relaxing even if I wasn't feeling well most of it.

Yesterday, at our CTMH team meeting, Laurie and I made the coolest little card holders. She found the recipe online (author unknown) and we made them together. They are too cute. Unfortunately, it was too dark to take pics when we were done. It will have to wait for today after school. Check back later.

Birthday Card Made using Cricut Craft Room

I spent over 2 weeks trying to figure this out on my gypsy with tons of frustration. Then, since I was on winter break from school, I had some free time to watch YouTube videos. I found some from Angiover7 who has a series of videos demonstrating so many things you can do using Cricut Craft Room.

I went back into CCR and fiddled around until I was able to color and cut this card. The cartridge I used was the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Bundle cartridge for both the card and the font. The color was done on the Imagine using Lori's Garden Cartridge.

Now, I have to add some decorations to the card. So, Ellen's birthday was last week. She'll get it way before her next one!

Christmas Card Workshop

I have been busy creating a Christmas Card Workshop for Sunday for a few of my gals. I held onto these papers from last year because I loved them so much. It hurt to use them up, but giving away something you love is the best way to appreciate it.

All of these cards are my own creations, but I'm sure they have been inspired from other's cards I have seen along the way. If one of them is yours, let me know and I will be sure to give you creative credit.

I made this adorable Thanksgiving banner to give as a hostess gift to my step-daughter for preparing dinner for the family this year.

This design was modified from a banner I CASE'd from Susan Saulsberry's original back in October. My original can be viewed HERE. I made the newest one using CTMH Autumn 2010 papers called Olivia. November CTMH Product Spotlight Blog Hop

Welcome to the November Hop. You most likely came here from Nikka's Blog so you're on the right track.

The product spotlight this month is embossing. Embossing creates a raised image on the paper. It can be done either with an object pressing into the image or chemicals heated onto the paper.

My project shows how you can emboss an image using a sharp instrument to create raised lines on the paper. I placed the cardstock into the paper trimmer, but instead of cutting, I used an embossing tool to create embossed lines into the card. Then I lightly inked the raised edges to show the raised lines.

I decided to go with the other side of the cardstock, or the debossed side. The scored lines actually show the valleys. I stamped my images directly onto these lines causing the areas that didn't take the stamp.

My second sample was done using the chemical method. If you look at these two stamped sentiments, one is darker and shinier than the other. The darker, shinier image was created by first inking the stamp using a Versamark inkpad, then inking directly into the colored ink. After stamping the sentiment, I added clear detail embossing powder and heated it. The result is a darker image than just using ink.

The final example of embossing is done using a die and a machine. I used a Spellbinders die in the Cuttlebug machine. The die creates an embossed and debossed oval. If you look carefully at the edges of the oval, you can see the debossing causing the center part with the sentiment on it to be raised (embossed).

Finally, I put all the pieces together to make this lovely card.

Holiday Decorating Banner

At a recent weekend crop, I met another CTMH consultant, Susan Saulsbery, who showed me this adorable banner she created. Well, Susan was kind enough to allow me to copy her work. (Thank you Susan!)

This is a two-sided banner that can stand on a mantle or table. One side says,"Give THANKS" and the reverse says, "MERRY Christmas".

My Great Spellbinders Storage System

As my nestabilities dies sets increased in number, finding a good storage system became a concern. I had them in CD cases, small carrying cases I found, among other storage types. Finding the dies I wanted became a major chore. Now I have come up with a storage system that not only works, it is relatively easy to transport to crops.

I got this loose-leaf binder from my local Costco. I like it because it has a zipper around the outside so any dies that come loose won't fall out. This particular style also has a handle on the outside making it like carrying a briefcase.

I put clear page protectors in it and put self-adhesive magnetic tape (purchased in a roll at Wal-Mart) onto 8 1/2 by 11" cardstock and placed the magnetic dies on pages. I also wrote the Spellbinders Item Numbers on the cardstock mostly so I would have a record of my dies and not keep buying duplicates. I also put the Item Numbers into an Excel spreadsheet that I can take shopping with me.

October CTMH Product Spotlight Hop- Using Re-inkers

This month's hop features re-inkers. Those little bottles of ink come in handy for a variety of uses in addition to making your ink pads juicier.

I have used reinkers in spray bottles with water to spritz color onto a project. I've also done that adding a little of our Pearl paint to add shimmer and sheen with the color. Ooooh how I love how that turned out.

I've used reinkers to dye ribbons or fabric flowers to match projects. That way, I can buy the white ribbon in a larger quantity and just use the reinker that matches my papers to have perfectly coordinating ribbons.If you would like to see samples of dyed flowers click HERE. Look at the flower centers on the banner section "H."

For this month's project, I used reinkers on a square of felt resting on a paper plate. I put four colors of ink onto the felt and created a puddle pad. I used the puddle pad to ink up my stamps and brayer to make unique random stamped paper and background. Then, I selected some of my images to cut out and layer onto the layout as coordinating embellishments. I added photos of my niece and my BFF on my sister's boat along with sunset over the bay. Now, I just have to decide on the right title for this layout!

"Angry Bird" Card

I copied this from another CTMH consultant, Tracy Sanders. I played around with the designs until it looked right. I didn't have any colored cardstock with me, so I brayered Holiday Red ink onto the large circle for his body, and Goldrush ink for the beak.

I think it is so stinkin cute! I gave him to my Angry Bird addicted friend for her birthday.

September CTMH Product Spotlight Hop- Art Philosophy

Welcome to my blog. You probably "hopped" over here from Nikka Geers Blog Isn't her work lovely?

I am truly fortunate to be Scrappin In Paradise here in Florida. I'm also fortunate to be scrappin together with Close To My Heart. They have partnered with ProvoCraft and created a wonderful Cricut cartridge and stamp bundle. The Art Philosophy is a wonderful addition to any Cricut library. Actually, it is better than any of the other cartridges I own. There are 700 cuts and nearly every single cut can be used all by itself on a card or scrapbook layout. There are quite a few 3-D objects to make also.

The project I made hangs in my classroom. It has a combination of cuts from the Art Philosophy cartridge. I took one of the CTMH My Creations Banners and inked the edges using Tulip ink. Then I covered it with Roxie papers that I cut in the banner shape from the AP cartridge. The letters for my name are the decorative layer font. There are little circles cut out of the letters, but I chose to put Mocha Opaque adhesive gems into the spaces.

There are various swirls, and frills, 3-d flowers with Mocha Opaques in the centers, layered flowers with dyed crocheted flowers in the centers, and the "key to knowledge" all cut from this same cartridge.

Images are raised using pieces of cardboard layered under them at various thicknesses.

In this "space" banner, I cut several rose images from another sheet of paper and layered them onto the banner itself. I added some Pearl Opaques to the swirl.

The flowers in the centers are made using the white crocheted flowers that I dyed using Tulip reinker and layered onto several flower cuts from the cricut cartridge.

The flower and the butterfly are each two part images layered together. Either piece could be used independently, but they look so great together.

Cuts from Just 1 Button

Each button makes 14 different cuts. I selected one key at random and made every cut available. This display board shows many of the possible combinations you can get.
Unlike some of the other cartridges, where a layer may give you one tiny component of a figure, each of these buttons creates something that can be used on its own. That equals 700 different images in any size imaginable!

Art Philosophy spiral flower

Adorable Layout using CTMH papers, My Stickease, and the new Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

I began this layout back in April, but my surgery forced me to put off finishing it. Now that I'm better, I had to get back and finish it.

I decided to create a layout that can accommodate a year's worth of pictures. The art teacher at my school adopted a baby and he is taking pictures of her each month with a stuffed monkey, making the monkey appear to "shrink".

I created the layout using CTMH Sophia Workshop on the Go and the coordinating My Stickease.

I cut out the name Sarah using a different cricut font back in April, but now that CTMH has the Art Philosopy cartridge, I cut the word shrinking using the font layer and made each letter a tenth or two smaller. The large black mat for the name was also cut using Art Philosopy. The words are stamped using the Field Trip Alphabet.

Sympathy Card

I made this card to give to the family of a dear friend who passed.

I stamped the main part of the flower in Garden Green. I waited a minute for it to dry, then I rubbed an anti static bag I made over the flower part. Then I used the flower part of the stamp and stamped it with Vanilla Cream ink which is pigment based. I sprinkled our Silver Pearl Embossing powder over it and heated.

To make the anti static bag, I took a baby sock that I got at Joanns for $1/pair. I filled one with baby powder (prefer cornstarch) and then closed the top with rubber band.

After you emboss, you can use a used dryer sheet or a paper towel to make sure all the powder is gone.

I colored the centers of the leaves with a New England Ivy marker and then used a waterbrush to "paint" the leaves.

Spring Card Workshop

Here are the long awaited samples of the cards you can make at my Spring Card Workshop. These eight samples show just a little of how the finished cards will look.

This workshop will be held on Saturday, April 16 from 10-4, however, all papers will be pre-cut so you can just stamp your images and assemble the cards at home.

The cost of the workshop is as follows:
Option A: 20 card bases and envelopes, papers, use of stamps and inks to create 20 beautiful cards. $20
Option B: Same as Option A with added sparkles, brads, and bling to bring your cards up to the WOW level. $25

Stamps are available to purchase in advance if you desire your own.

This is a standard A2 size card using Wings B&T papers. I stamped the butterfly image using Versamark Ink and embossed using Gold embossing powder. I also stamped the sentiment the same way. I heat embossed both image and sentiment and sprayed the butterfly with create a shade pearl paint mixed with reinker in our new spray pen and sprayed over the butterfly and wiped it off the embossed areas. The embossing works as a resist and only sticks to the paper. I added 3 button brads from the new Black Mini-Medley Accents Collection.

December's Stamp of the Month "Amore" is a lovely stamp set with lacy hearts and sweet phrases. It immediately makes me think of Valentine's Day, so that is what I made for this hop.

I made a very simple card for my hubby (don't tell him). I cut the card out using the edge of a spellbinders label die on one side only. To do this, I had to slide the card into the die so only one edge was under the cut edge.

I stamped the large heart in Sky ink and then used Pacifica in the Rock and Roll technique. To do that, you roll the darker color ink onto the edges of the stamp. Since the stamp is clear, you can line it up with the original image and stamp right over it. I also stamped the word Love in Pacifica ink.

For the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment in Sky and then overstamped the same image using the rock and roll technique in Pacifica. The adorable heart border was stamped in Pacifica ink.

Christmas Card Class coming......

We will be getting together at Katie B's house Saturday, Nov. 6 from 10-2 to make some cool cards. You will be making 5 cards for $10. Bridal Shower Card 10/17/2010

I made this card for a bridal Shower for a coworker. All products are Close to My Heart.

I stamped the flower and sentiment in versamark and black ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder. The colonial white ribbon was gathered together by sewing a running stitch. I gathered the ribbon, and pressed it to the glue line as I went.

The paper is Silhouette. I'm not sure if it is still available.

I got the most amazing email from my friend Laurie today. I am going to share it with you.

Hi, I just had to share this, I love it sooo much! It is over-sized about ~13"x15", 1/4" thick white board and easy to work on: cards, bills, lists, you name it! Everything is Close To My Heart, minus rhinestones, ribbon. The paper, stickers, letters, tags are all CTMH premium cardstock, which I put in a clear sheet protector, then reinforced & strengthened the edges with CTMH Liquid Glass to prevent wearing, fading. I've made 3 as gifts first and decided I had to have one too. It is a little brighter in person. Thanks for letting me share, and thank you Carol for your inspiration!

CTMH New Product Blog Hop

Close up of left flowers. I used Liquid Glass to seal the flowers and also to attach each flower to the page. I also traced the stamped image with Liquid Glass.

The buttons were attached with memory book glue dots. All pieces were inked with Honey ink using a sponge. The bracket shaped pieces were cut using a template on the enclosed CD. The flowers were made with our 1 1/4" punch. I folded the circles into a cone shape and attached them with liquid glass.

For my card, I used goldrush and creme brule ink for the flower and topiary and pear ink for the leaves. I used both flowers and stamped them directly on top of each other. I made two of them and layered them. I cut between the petals on the upper and curled each of the petals. I also punched holes into the flower center and layered chocolate cardstock below it. I stamped the phrase, Seize the Day in versamark and embossed in clear detail embossing powder. I layered the sorbet B&T from the Twitterpated paperpack over Chocolate cardstock card base. I added 3 mocha opaques along the top right of the card. All items can be purchased from your Close to My Heart independent consultant.

Masculine Birthday Card

I made a birthday card that uses the new color "Sky" in combination with Barn Red and Honey. I stamped the candles for the set Candlelight (C1394) in Sky on White Daisy cardstock. The candle flame is Honey with the outline stamp in Barn Red. The Happy Birthday was inked in Sky then I rolled the stamp edges into Barn Red for the two-tone effect. I adhered the black ribbon onto the White Daisy cardstock and then layered onto Black cardstock. All is layered onto a red card base. I used Liquid Glass and followed the swirls on the flames and the candles. I also added LG in the round spaces on the candle with the large dots and tiny dots. I love how the LG gives the Sky a slight shade of green.(That sometimes happens to the ink colors, an unplanned surprise.)
Everything except the red cardbase are from CTMH.

Welcome to the July CTMH Product spotlight. This month's project is using the stamp set, Cupcake Sprinkles. I stamped the cupcake holder using Versamark and embossed with Silver embossing powder. I stamped the sprinkles using chocolate ink and clear embossing powder. The entire cupcake is raised up with foam tape. The layers are cut using spellbinders dies.(I don't remember which die it was.) The phrase was stamped in White Daisy ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. Everything was layered over a strip of Daydream paper and black cardstock. Two colonial white brads were added to the right hand side of the card.

The July Stamp of the Month is Happy Forever (D1423) with these adorable little hedgehogs on it. For my project, I stamped the hedgehog with the kite and colored it in with copics. Then I used my spellbinders oval die to punch him out using the "out of the box" technique. I will post the directions at a later date.
The scalloped background is a scalloped oval from spellbinders. The pink and green papers are from Unforgettable paper pack.

June CTMH Product Spotlight- Just Blooms

June's blog hop features the product, Just Blooms. They come in several colors.I used flowers from 2 different packs. The Spring Blossom (Z1266) features Creme Brule, Colonial White, and Tulip. There are flowers in 3 shapes and 2 sizes and butterflies. Big Pinks (Z1033) come in Baby Pink and White Daisy in 5 sizes.

My layout is from my granddaughter and grandson's first communion. On the left page, I used the Big Pinks. On the right page, I used the Spring Blossom flowers and one butterfly.

My project uses the necktie to create a background. I stamped the tie several times in Garden Green on the colonial white cardstock. Each stamp is the reverse of the other. I stamped the sentiment using garden green. I layered the stamped image onto the garden green card base, with Chocolate over it. On that, I layered another garden green with the sentiment in garden green on colonial white. I inked all the edges of the sentiment. Colonial White grosgrain ribbon tied in a knot adorns the chocolate piece. I finished it off with 2 Colonial White brads.

Baby Card "Onesie"

I saw a YouTube video of a card made to look like a baby onesie. I made one myself and it came out so adorable. This is the title and author of the video on YouTube: From My Craft Desk # 3 by billieprd. I didn't have the same supplies as the video, but using what I had on hand, I made this card and it it so adorable. I used CTMH baby pink cardstock on a standard card with the fold on the top. I used the Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder for the front of the card. I added the scalloped circle using a nestabilities scalloped circle and punching the center again. The crotch snaps are CTMH self-stick pearls. I also used some tiny white buttons and CTMH Pink Organdy ribbon. I gave this card to my colleague for her baby shower.

My May SOTM creation is a card I made with some leftover scraps. They are from the Caboodle paperpack. Boy that pack is sure getting a lot of use! I didn't follow any formula, I just moved pieces around until I thought they looked ok. I used my sponge dauber on all of the edges with Chocolate ink. I added one brad for the sentiment and three for accent, and Voila! Now, hop on over to Debra's blog to see her lovely creation.

Butterfly card

This is a card I copied from a fellow CTMH consultant, Sarah Masteller. The pattern paper and pink cardstock is from the CTMH paperpack Daydream (x7108c). The card itself is black cardstock (1386). The circles were cut with the coluzzle cutting system. The pearls are from JoAnn's fabric and crafts notions dept and attached with Liquid Glass (z679). The butterflies are MS punch layered. There is Prisma glitter (z134) in the center of the butterfly's bodies. Too bad my granddaughters are too "cool" for frilly girly stuff. All items in parenthesis can be purchased from me or directly from my website. There is a shop online link over to the right side of this blog.

My paper pack is Veranda. It features the colors: Creme Brulee, Cocoa, Garden Green, and Juniper. The layout if Monologue (P.52-53) from the how-to book, Imagine by Jeanette Lynton. This is the layout we made at my scrapbooking class this week. I haven't decided which pictures to put on it yet, which is why is doesn't have any. As soon as I decide, I will repost it.

Happy Easter

I just made this card to give to my hostess today. I copied the idea from a youtube video titled, Easter Side Step card bunny made by scotia9338. She posted the blog address of the lady who she copied, but I didn't get to copy it. She made her pieces using punches, but since I don't have those punches, I modified what I used.

The head is a spellbinders circle about 1 1/2 inches. The body and egg are medium sized ovals from nestabilities and the feet, arms, and ears are also from smaller ovals. I used the negative space from the oval and outlined it with a pink marker and cut the shape. It was really easy after watching the video by scotia9338 on youtube.

The April Stamp of the Month D1409 FLOWER POT is perfect for simple outline images but it can also be colored in as I did here in the Sorbet flowers on the rectangle. I made this card from a pattern in Wishes. On the Edge is a 5 ½ by 4 1/4 standard sized card with the fold on the left. The paper is Caboodle and the color scheme is Sweet Leaf, Sorbet, and Crystal Blue. I stamped the word thanks on a slightly smaller than 2” circle and layered it on a 2” circle of the crystal blue paper from Caboodle. The large circle is cut from a Spellbinders Large Pinking Circle die cut. I random stamped the tiny flower clusters all over everything in all of the different inks. All of my edges were inked with Sorbet ink using a finger dauber.
The center of the flowers on the rectangle have tiny spots of glitter added.

CTMH Blog Hop Product Liquid Glass

This month's Close To My Heart consultant blog hop is showcasing a great product called Liquid Glass. It is a dynamite adhesive, but can be used in quite a number of ways.
This is a circle hop, so you can hop from site to site and eventually you will wind up on the same site you began.

In this layout, you can see examples of liquid glass being used to create the illusion of water drops. I used some in each photo. I also used them to highlight the grandchild whose photo I was taking in the crowded pool.

I even used the liquid glass to make bubbles in the letters of the word "waterpark" and to make a 3-D effect in the center of the bottom flower.

March Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

I have created a card using the word "Thanks" and "for everything" from the March Stamp of the Month, "A Little Everything" (D1408) which is available only during the month of March. You can earn it Free with $100 purchase, or for a reduced price.

I stamped the words first in Versamark (z891) clear ink and immediately in Juniper (z2167) ink. Then I embossed using Clear Detail embossing powder(z821). I love the effect the clear embossing gives the cards. The swirls are cut out of chocolate cardstock (x5643) and layered over the B&T pattern paper from the Creative Basics Veranda Collection (X5809). This is layered over Juniper cardstock (x5752). I also used a sponge dauber (z726) to ink the edges of all the papers using chocolate (z2111) ink. The bow is the Dotted Swiss from the Ribbon Rounds Chocolate collection (z1126). The chocolate cardstock background was embossed using the Swiss Dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug and sanded (z194) to remove the chocolate and reveal the white core. The entire card front is adhered to a Colonial White cardbase (x1410). Atlantis Marine Life Center using You Rock paper pack

This is my son's family with my DH and myself at the Atlantis Marine Life Center in Riverhead, NY during our vacation last summer. I copied the picture on p. 20 of the CTMH Spring 2010 idea book, added some cut out stars and raised them with pop dots. I also rotated the layout.

My Valentine's Day Card with emboss/resist technique

I made my first attempt at using the emboss/resist technique. I stamped the hearts/swirls first using Versamark and clear detail embossing powder and heat set it. Then I stamped several pink inks over the entire card with sponges. I inked all the edges with cranberry ink. I used the same technique on the small Valentine but used red embossing powder on that part and attached it to the card front. I added a brown dotted swiss ribbon and attached the entire card front to the card base.

I have a beautiful circle card for you to see. It was designed by my good friend, Sunny Sheppard. She adores Close to My Heart products and was very excited to create a card to be displayed on my blog.

This cute paper is Caboodle, which can be found in the CTMH Spring 2010 Idea Book. The product colors are buttercup, sweet leaf, crystal blue, sorbet, chocolate, and black. The fold is at the top of the card. The image was stamped onto a buttercup circle in archival black and colored in with CTMH markers. A little Martha Stewart glitter was added to the candle flames and cake plate. This was layered onto a slightly larger circle in sweet leaf. This was layered onto a square of sorbet B&T paper on a crystal blue cardstock square. The Happy Birthday was stamped in crystal blue onto buttercup cardstock with edges inked in chocolate, layered onto sweet leaf, then layered onto crystal blue cardstock. The card itself is colonial white with the caboodle striped paper covering the entire card and edged in chocolate. Sorbet brads and sorbet ribbon adorn the card. Isn't this card beautiful?

Card class begins on Jan. 25

My cardmaking class begins Monday Jan. 25, 2010 at Lantana Middle School. Here is a cardholder and 4 cards we made at our previous class. Class is held from 6pm to 9pm for 8 weeks.

Happy New Year 2010!

Hi. 2010 is going to be a landmark year for me. I will finally finish grad school and get my master's degree this May. Yipee. It has been a long, hard job to get this done and I can finally see the end in sight. It is a very exciting thing for me. 5 more months!!!

My resolution for 2010 is to acutally get this blog updated on a regular basis. I've had it for nearly two years and only post on here two or three times a year.

Ok, I'm on spring break from school, Yay!!!!! Unfortunately, I'm in Grad School and their spring break was over before I began my classes......oh poop.

Well, spring break started with my birthday. Nice way to start a spring break.

Since I didn't have to go anywhere today, I decided to take some courses in the Close to My Heart scrapbook training academy. Well, I was so close to finishing my Master's Degree, that I went ahead and did it. Today I finished and earned my Master's Degree in Scrapbooking! Hooray for me!

Groundhog Day

Well, Phil saw his shadow and there will be six more weeks of winter. Here in sunny FL, we call it six more weeks of snowbirds. In reality, if Phil didn't see his shadow, spring would arrive in about a month and a half which is about six weeks. LOL

Anyway, that doesn't affect us here in sunny FL.

Monday is the 100th day of school. Now that affects us. That means only 80 more school days till summer vacation. YAY!!!! Now that's important to me. I love my summer vacation. Too bad I will be working on my master's degree. I won't have much time to enjoy my time off. Oh, well. What we do in search of the almighty dollar.

I had a lovely New Year's Eve home with my hubby, working on my latest layout. I used the Close to My Heart Serendipity constant campaign. It is of my son and his wife and daughters. I'm pleased with the finished layout, now I just need to add a little journaling and it is finished.
